An EV charger with UPI lets drivers scan a QR code on the charger, pay with any UPI app such as PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm, and start charging automatically, with no app to download, no account and no wallet top-up. Every Pristine AACF DC fast charger supports UPI QR payments, and collections settle to the station owner's bank account.
How it works
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Scan | Driver scans the UPI QR code on the charger. |
| Pay | Driver pays with any UPI app, such as PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm. |
| Charge | Charging starts automatically after payment. |
| You get paid | Collections settle to your bank account. |
Why no app matters
Many charging networks ask drivers to download an app, register and load a wallet before the first charge. On a highway with weak signal, or for a visitor who will never return, that is a reason to drive away. With UPI, the driver uses the payment app already on their phone. For the station owner, it also means there is no separate customer app to build, run or support.
- No download, sign-up or wallet top-up for drivers.
- Works for one-time visitors such as hotel guests and highway travellers.
- Payments go straight to your business account.
- RFID is also supported for fleets and regular users.
What the station owner needs
A stable internet connection at the charger is essential, because payments and remote monitoring both run over it. Pristine AACF configures UPI collection for your business during setup. Settlement timing and any payment-gateway or UPI processing charges depend on the payment partner and your agreement with them. See our site checklist for the other items to prepare.
Pricing and GST on charging
You set the price per kWh drivers pay, within government rules. The Ministry of Power EV Charging Guidelines 2024 set a ceiling on the service charge for public fast charging until March 2028, so confirm your price against the guidelines for your state. The charging service carries 18% GST, added to the driver's bill. Our estimated example uses ₹26 per kWh excluding GST: at 10 cars a day taking 50 kWh each, that is 15,000 kWh and ₹3,90,000 income a month, ₹2,10,000 for electricity and maintenance at ₹14 per kWh, and ₹1,80,000 gross margin at ₹12 per kWh.
Which chargers include UPI
All seven models, from the 30 kW charger to the 240 kW charger, have a 10-inch sunlight-readable touchscreen, an RFID reader and UPI QR payments, plus OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1. Compare them on the DC fast charger page. If you plan to connect a charge-management platform as well, read OCPP 1.6J vs 2.0.1. Call or WhatsApp 77089 94055, or 88070 22133, for a quote.
Frequently asked questions
Do drivers need to install an app to charge?
No. Drivers only scan the UPI QR code on the charger and pay with the UPI app already on their phone. There is nothing to download, sign up for or top up. This removes a common reason drivers abandon a charging session, and the station owner does not need to run a separate customer app.
When does the money reach my bank account?
UPI collections settle directly to your business bank account. Settlement timing, and any payment-gateway or UPI processing charges, depend on the payment partner and your agreement with them. Pristine AACF configures UPI collection during setup, so you can see payments arriving without handling cash or driver accounts.
Which UPI apps work?
Any UPI app can be used, such as PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm. The driver scans the QR code shown on the charger, approves the payment in their own app, and charging starts automatically once payment is confirmed. Fleet drivers and regular users can also use RFID cards.
What happens if the internet goes down?
UPI payments and remote monitoring need a working internet connection, so drivers may not be able to pay by QR while it is down. That is why a stable connection is on our site checklist. Many sites use a reliable wired line with a cellular backup to reduce failed sessions.
Is GST charged on charging sessions?
Yes. The charging service billed to drivers carries 18% GST, which the station adds to the driver's price and remits to the government. This is different from the 5% GST on the charger equipment itself. Keep both rates in mind when setting your price per kWh.
